The Joyful Wren
This jubilant Carolina wren was happily munching on seeds and peanut butter, but he would pause ever so often and sing.
The Carolina wren is a common species of wren, resident in the eastern half of the United States, the extreme south of Ontario, Canada, and the extreme northeast of Mexico. It’s also the state bird of South Carolina.
Typically 4.9 to 5.5 inches long with an 11 inch wingspan, it is a fairly large wren; among the United States species it is second largest after the cactus wren.
