Mimosa
I’ve never enjoyed the mimosa as a plant, but the flowers are so unique that I had to photograph one. The fine pink flowers remind me of a fiber optic filament lights made popular in the 60’s and 70’s.
Mimosa is a genus of about 400 species of herbs and shrubs. The generic name is derived from the Greek word μιμος (mimos), meaning "mimic.”
It is believed that the first mimosa plant was brought to the New World in 1788 by the famous adventurer Captain Cook. In the 19th century, it became the darling of the Riviera and colonized the hills of the Tanneron region near Grasse.
