Seth’s interest in photography began at the age of 15 as part of a school project. From there his interest was piqued and he began exploring photography in earnest. After several wins at state level competitions and at the urging of his mentors, in 2004 at the age of 19 he started Through My Lens Photography.

As a professional photographer, Seth combines his love of nature, people, and history into one profession. His eye for detail and knack for telling a story attracts clients with diverse photographic needs including conventions, community events, weddings and portraits. He spent a year as a photographer for a local newspaper where he fine-tuned his ability to tell a story and document history through photography. Many of his clients have commented on his professionalism, work ethic and “his ability to capture the heart of a scene,” as the reason they are repeat customers.

A native of Newport News, Virginia, Seth’s work has taken him throughout the states of Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, and Arizona. His photography has been featured in fine art exhibitions and can be seen in local art galleries. His work has also appeared in local and state publications.

As a photojournalist and historian, he tells stories through his event and portrait work, and captures local scenes, nature and architecture. His most recent work is a photo study of Fort Monroe, Virginia.

Seth is thankful to his parents for having the courage and making the sacrifice to homeschool him and his siblings through high school. This afforded him the opportunity to explore and pursue his talents and dreams at an early age.

In addition to photography, he has several years of experience working for both profit and non-profit companies in publicity, marketing, fund raising and freelance journalism. He also owns and operates a small urban farm where he grows and sells fresh cut herbs.

He is a member of the Denbigh Warwick Business Association and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals; he serves as a board member of the Yorktown Arts Foundation, the newsletter editor for the Lee Hall Depot Foundation, and has been an active member of the Newport News Master Gardeners Association since 2002.
