Eastern Gray Squirrel
Well known as a birdseed bandit to backyard birders, the Eastern Gray Squirrel is a member of the rodent family.
They spend most of their lives in trees and they can grow 17-20 inches long, whenever they aren’t stealing birdseed!
The Eastern Gray Squirrel is native to the eastern and mid-western United States, and to the southerly portions of the eastern provinces of Canada. It has also been introduced into Ireland, Britain, Italy, South Africa, and Australia. Eastern gray squirrels in Europe are a concern because they have displaced some of the native squirrels there.
