Caribbean Flamingo II
Caribbean Flamingos are the only flamingo to naturally inhabit North America. They are deep pink/red/orange in color and they have the brightest plumage of all flamingo species.
In captivity they can live up to 40 years. Caribbean Flamingos are also known as the 'Rosy Flamingo' and the 'American Flamingo.'
The word 'Flamingo' comes from the Latin word for flame.
This image is quite intriguing. The flamingo is sleeping while resting it's head on its back with neck wrenched around.
What a fascinating bird!
