The Somerwell House
The Somerwell House, named for Mungo Somerwell, established a ferry across the York River in 1702.
Somerwell was also a merchant, keeper of an ordinary and town constable.
Somerwell died around 1707.
Little is known about his early life or the date of construction of his house.
