Yellow Waterlily III
I discovered this water lily in a Koi pond in Northern Virginia. I enjoyed the fact that is was yellow instead of the more traditional pink.
This sequel is cropped in a little closer so the intricate detail was the star of the photograph.
Well known and used abundantly in water gardens and ponds, the water lily is the national flower of Bangladesh and State flower for Andhra Pradesh, India. The Blue water lily is the national flower of Sri Lanka and is the birth flower for the month of July.
Water lilies were also widely depicted by the French artist Claude Monet (1840–1926) in a series of paintings.
