Governor's Palace in Colonial Williamsburg
Built in the early 1700’s, seven royal governor’s lived in the palace; Governor Thomas Jefferson was the last governor to have the ‘Governor’s Palace’ as the official home of the executive. Virginia’s seat of government was moved to Richmond in 1779, during his term.
The palace was also briefly used as a hospital in 1781 to care for the wounded from the Battle of Yorktown.
